Love Poem: Lost Love

Lost Love

Laid his head on crisp white cotton
Her vision almost forgotten
Now faded dreams combine with new
Bringing to mind a paler hue

Of how it was with her still near
Filling his life with so much cheer
The looks, the smiles, the gentle touch
He’d never loved a girl so much

Yet now it seems so long ago
When they had met and got to know
Each other like an open book
A little nod was all it took

For each to understand and see
How much their love was meant to be
A gift to each from up above
Of never ending perfect love

Death tried to break the bond they made
But faith it came right to his aid
 Promising him an after life
To go and spend with his dear wife

To shed the burden carried long
Alone without his wife's sweet song
To fly so free to take her hand
And join her in the promised land
