Love Poem: Lost Love
Joyce Johnson Avatar

Lost Love

My love gave me a diamond ring.
With naught to give but heart,
he took it as a valued thing,
and said right from the start,
that we would never part.

He pledged me as his beloved bride
and vowed his love so true.
Forever we’d walk side by side,
be happy all life through.
The world was just we two.

But now my heart is cleft in twain,
my tears fall all the day.
The happiness has turned to pain.
Blue skies have turned to grey.
My loved one has gone away.

God sent his angels down to take
the one love of my life.
The miseries I cannot shake.
Order has turned to strife,
without him to call me wife.
