Love Poem: Loose

Loose

One for the road, her angel shape
cuts loose across the cedar floor;
the bath robe curled in shades of pink,
her fitful gaze lights on the door.
And wonder, sleeping, cracks an eye,
roused restless to a potent state;
and musing fearful improvise
through edgy hours growing late.
Unleash of fireworks mist her gaze,
spontaneously ideas combust;
disquiet haunts the inner sight
of me, myself, trailed in her dust.
How does the heart and hearth compare,
how does my love of her compete,
with roulette logic, spinning coins,
adrenaline and itchy feet?
And yet my life forever bows
in nakedness, sincerity,
with prayers prostrated on her breast,
beseeching she remain with me.
