Love Poem: Look Away

Look Away

When I look away
How is it that I still see
  Your very face
that was just in front of me

Etched into my brain
   Damn into my soul
  Your love haunts me
forever my heart you hold

Words we speak but do not hear
All those times we dare to share
As your warmth turns bitter cold
we part but I won't let you go

Dreams bewitch my troubled nights
My soulless body yearns for flight
To wrap you in my wings so tight
melt away in our mortal might

If love is false it's pain is real
   Tortured souls love kills
I cling to you for life to live
all I am as all I give

When you look away
How is it that you still see
  My very face
that was just in front of thee

Flesh and bone won't deny
   Urges of life to survive
But add love and the spirit ignites
look away, look away, at love's first sight
