Longing For May

Sorry baby...I know we're here now
and it's all in dissarray...
Upside down and lost to us
this bond is lost, spoiled by this lust
like blowing dust, and now
all gone for us

Now lonely lovers recoil, licking wounds
spitefully pacing rooms,
cursing full moons
we gazed on naked
in early june

Sorry July is hot and tormented now
and the days hurt more when passing...
we bowed to urges bypassing friendship
...slipped into awkward courtship
as the feelings ran too deep
and as the flow dried like concrete
settling into jealousy and lies
a different glint in your eyes, now
and ever more I see your devil's halo
skewed angle~ dark angel

Sorry baby, that I may never recover
To know such a wonderful friend
and such a self-centered lover...
to know they were one and the same
I sacrificed one to know the other
to seek curiousity beneath the covers.

Losing that girl I always laughed with so freely
Pushing away that woman who cut me so deeply
             and now you need me?
~~ this suspicious August will leave me longing for May
