Love Poem: Longing

Longing

I’m weary of this winter and it’s chill
that wraps around me tightly like a glove
and robs my aging spirit of its will
while leaving lonely hearts devoid of love.

I’m tired of hibernating in my lair
as never ending darkness lingers on,
and locked within my mind is dire despair;
the thoughts of warmer days forever gone.

I dream of brighter skies to fill the morn;
the pastel colors seen at break of day
when nature blooms as all of life reborn
and fills the heart with beautiful display.

I long for warmth of springtime to expose
and touch the tender petals of the rose.
