Love Poem: Long Thin Streams

Long Thin Streams

Wounded the heart to sob from love's morass
though years and time love will often borrow
the tears will flow when memories trespass
and its burden with anguish and sorrow
the heart will entice the need to prolong
even when love becomes a brown bouquet
love disappeared when its coldness grew long
and its glowing world turned into dismay
inside the heart lay flickering dreams
to remind the wounded heart it has wept
and paints the tear-stained eye with long thin streams
on the face of a clown where the pain's kept
nothing left within but ashes to save
and all the promises from yesterday
