Long Lost

LONG LOST
The first time I set eyes on you I fell in love. Your auburn hair, your freckled face, Bewitching eyes. And oh, the magic of your laughter Coyly giggling, Yet, in it’s very innocence, Exuding sexuality. Perhaps you knew how young men’s hearts Quickened The moment you entered the room. You couldn’t know how my heart Cried out The moment you entered my thoughts. And later, when you gently told me, “It’s over” You didn’t know you’d broken my heart. And now, after all these years have passed, Apart As we’ve each lived our separate lives, I still think back to that summer night In the park, When you told me it wasn’t to be. And my heart breaks all over again. 13 January 2020 Dear Heart contest Sponsor --Silent One
