Love Poem: Little Things

Little Things

I changed my hairstyle today,
I thought you'd like it the new way,
I loved the change, the way it looked,
It simply made me feel good,
I couldn't wait to hear what you'd say,
Your expression of pleasure, dislike or dismay,
And no matter what you said, it couldn't ever be wrong,
I'd treasure it deep and hold to it strong,
I felt happy, uplifted and merrier still,
But the next thought that crossed bore ill,
You aren't here so you wouldn't see,
Little things that make a big difference to me,
Fun isn't fun and gaiety isn't gay,
My life's just empty when you are away,
My life is not unchanging nor is it dull,
Its just my feelings and emotions that are in a lull,
There is a hole in my heart, a place filled only by you,
Happiness, joy, and moments of elation,
Seep through it into the dark hue,
And so I tried...
Tried to change my hairstyle today,
But it just doesn't look good any way.
