Little flower, what supernatural art
Cast your spell upon my heart
In this cold season, out of place
And out of time? I stoop to embrace
You in my gaze, and be closer still
The miracle of your presence bright
As a child's first eye on love. Will
You endure this spate of wintry plight
And bring to seed generations deep
Inside the shall surface of your cell?
And shall they with me a vigil keep
Against this poor counterfeit of hell?
Little flower, I can't explain your mystery
But I can believe there is always beauty
To keep the promise that God has made
When Noah stood before him unafraid.
