Love Poem: Lingering

Lingering

Like the smell of morning coffee
Like the chill in December's air
I just can't do anything
Your all my heart endears

Lingering.. Lingering...
In my heart you are always here
Lingering... Lingering...
Like the coolness of September's rain
Your memories become my pain

You made me happy
You made me cry
You made me angry
You made me lie

How could I tell you
If it meant you would go away
How could I make you
Want to forever stay

Your smile stays with me
Your eyes I still see
Your touch I need
Lingering in my heart, lingering

I was reluctant, it made you doubt
I could not leave her, you wanted out
Like the fragrance of a rose in bloom
Lingering... I lie awake in my room

Like the smell of your perfume
lingering in the air
The softness of your brown eyes
mist with tears

The sadness of losing you
The anger I swear
The foolishness I fell upon
Trying to make you care

Lingering... Lingering...
Like a mirage that isn't there
Your gone but you linger on
In my heart you linger here.
