Lilac of Lancaster

Rise and shine my lilac
I've something special planned
Wait now, don't get up too fast
Here, let me take your hand

I've brought your morning coffee
But that's not the big surprise
I'll tell you while you're sipping it
As sleep fades from your eyes

I've gotten us a bicycle
One that's built for two
It's got a wicker basket
And a comfy seat for you

Let's go 50 miles
The country roads are vast
The autumn leaves are brilliant
So let's not go too fast

You sit on the front seat
I'll take the one behind
This way I can look at you
And dream things in my mind

I hear the next town over
Has arts and crafts galore
Let's head that way at sunset
And browse through all the stores

I've gone ahead and rented
A place for us to stay
It's wood-fired and it's cozy
And there's two guitars to play

There's a great big deck outside in back
It's great for viewing stars
May I carry you through the doorway
And pretend the place is ours?

Don't worry about the distance
I've done 50 before
If you're feeling tired
I'll pedal all the more

I want to make this special
A day for you carefree
I'll take care of everything
Just come along with me
