Love Poem: Like a Falling Star

Like a Falling Star

I think of our dreams of tomorrow,
our hearts desire of yesterday.
They sank into a sea of sorrow,
only traces of tears linger today.

Planning for what lay ahead,
anticipating what we would find.
Looking to the future with no sense of dread.
With the hope, fate would be kind.

The love, we believed would last,
did we not see it slowly slip away?
I searched for an answer in our past,
I soon gave up in dismay.

What to do with what is left?
Just scattered pieces on the ground.
Life was stolen, as in grand theft.
My head spinning round and round.

Life's values, we choose to believe,
become part of who we are.
Their loss, causes our spirit to grieve.
Inner light fades like a falling star.

The clock ticks, as time goes on,
with no options to pause.
All sense of self has gone.
The effect, whatever the cause.

I have no choice but to face,
life, knowing it to be unfair.
I move on, to an unfamiliar place,
Alone, with no one there.
