Letter To the Younger Me

Dear Alex, you're 15 and lost right now
You don't know if life is worth a shot right now
You're fighting to make it through the day, praying it'll soon be over
Weight of the world on your shoulders

Your dad just died, and you don't know how to feel
He was never around, so you don't feel a loss, so are confused as to how you can heal
You stay in your room in the children's home, with your music blaring
You've been in foster care since age 3, So You look to Eminem and Cristiano Ronaldo as parents

You're battling suicidal thoughts, you shouldn't have to feel like this
You're self-harming but Alex, you're not going to heal like this
You've got some good times ahead, so please promise me, You won't go too far
You're wearing long sleeved jumpers, so you don't show your scars

Don't believe the bullies, and please stop being so hard on yourself
You need to raise your guard, and get help
You're sleeping with many girls, but won't give a chance to love
Crying into your pillow, with cut wrists, and you won't let anyone give you a hug

You're blaming yourself for things that aren't your fault
Depression is telling you, you're worthless, but please know that's false
You've got people waiting to meet you
Stop worrying what people think, and do whatever you can to please you

You've had it rough, but I promise you, it's something you will overcome
It may not seem like it, but you've got a lot of memories to make
Friends to meet, laughs to have, and hearts to break
Dear Alex, you're only 15, so please remember you're still young
