Love Poem: Learning From Bad Love's Burning

Learning From Bad Love's Burning

All these years I've never learnt
It's so easy to get burnt
By the flames of love's romance
But I always took the chance
When the hotness of passion
Sent all my common sense dashin'
As the warmth of love got higher
So didn't all my desire
The flames of red, blue and yellow
Burned me with every new fellow
Who's lies sizzled from their tongues
Every word left wounds and stung
Like hot coals burning my flesh
All my loves were such a mess
Leaving me to wonder why
I torture myself and try
To finally find someone who
Would not scar me through and through
Giving it just one more shot
For my lonely desperate heart
I felt a spark different and strange
My emotions would soon change
From badly damaged and scorched
To a brighter loving torch
As you pulled me from a past
This fire ignited fast
Never burning out because
I have found a hot new love
