Love Poem: Last Mirage of Love

Last Mirage of Love

Last Mirage of Love

Is a dream afraid of stirring a child left sleeping through the day
never to see the world that’s shinning
or the fields where they would play.

If I were lost you wouldn’t find me
you wouldn’t think to search the fields
and if I were found
well then you would lose me
you would be inquiring somewhere else.

Is a smile afraid of giving too many tears left to cry
a fairy tale with no ears to hear its telling
of all the magic still inside
all the time left waiting for the years it had in store
and all the love left anticipating
the promise of so much more.

If I were wrecked you wouldn’t find me
you wouldn’t think to explore the meadows
and if I were unearthed well then you would miss me
you would be far too busy
searching another sea somewhere else

You will never know what is breaking
as these doors slowly close
so many hours lost in hoping
have now quietly buried my soul
its a step that’s never taken
a moment of dawn that never comes
a sleeping dream that never wakens
to feel the life of the newly rising sun

And if I were here you wouldn’t find me
you would not look for me in the orchards
you wouldn’t think of where I waited
you would search for me no place else
and if I were rescued you would misplace me
you would be out on safari
looking for my shadow in the fields

My last goodbye wouldn’t linger
my last smile would finish my kiss
you would not her me say how much I loved her
to the sad and burning emptiness.
