Lament
In bleak mid-winter,
I laid myself bare.
I gave you my vital organs,
Your breaths more precious to me than my own.
I gave you my mind,
Open access,
At any hour.
Because I wanted you to know how much I treasured your words.
I gave you my soul,
Bloodied where I'd ripped it from the chasm-
To show you my devotion.
And it was still not enough.
