Love Poem: Kissed By a Rose

Kissed By a Rose

I shot cupid’s arrow, in the dark, but I still hit bull’s eye,
I found a girl, pretty is an understatement,
From her hair to her heels, she’s a refined beauty,
But there’s one thing about her that puts me off; her character,
I’ve been kissed by a rose; and the feeling is bittersweet,
Roses come with thorns, at least I should have known earlier,
But love is not always peaceful and bright,
It has sunrise, it has day, it has gloom, it has rain,
Its moody, it’s happy, it’s undulating, it’s not plain,
Love like a stream meanders, but it always leads your heart right.
When the birds in the trees tweet their famous chorus on repeat,
The symphony of their chirping overshadows the cacophony of the forest,
So is love; persisting as it is, it can overshadow flaws,
A rose with its thorns is like a glass half-filled with water,
Half-full or half-empty; your perspective determines what you see,
I’ve been kissed by a rose, and yes! It’s bittersweet,
But it’s still better than no kiss at all.
