Kindness Through Giving

Some feel restrictions never should be placed
on kindness, that it must be freely shown
through giving, but sometimes it could depend
on what’s involved. No “rules” are set in stone.

I know some loving folks who give their time
and money to their relatives and friends.
Though they will stop enabling those who waste
the money, their compassion doesn’t end!

Let charity begin with those we know*;
then, in good conscience, we can help the poor,
the hungry, and the homeless we don’t know.
True kindness dwells within the heart that’s pure.

*In Timothy 5:4, Paul tells Timothy to make sure the widows are taken
care of by their own families first, before calling on the church.
