Love Poem: Just Call Your Mother

Just Call Your Mother

Just call your mother
For there is no other
Who gave you life
And raised you to heights
Unforeseen in her mind
Yet hoped all the while
She showed you love
Let you go as a dove
Prayed you’d be alright
The Lord watch you by night
Waited by the phone
In case you felt alone
A call any day
To sooth your cares away
She grows old on her own
Wonders what she did wrong
Her phone never rings
She did give you wings
But you still have a heart
It may come as a start
That you rip hers apart
When you pretend she’s not there
When she thinks you don’t care
And all it would take
Is a 10 minute break
Instead you show young ones
Your uncaring ways
Don’t realize some day
That they’ll do the same...
Just call your mother
How hard could it be?
Perhaps once a week?
How much time does it take?
You’d rather jump in a lake?
Or are you a fake?
Oh for heavens sake!
Just call your mother!
In the back of your mind
You know you have time
You feel comfort knowing
Her presence showing
And how she waits there
Oh how much she cares
Doesn’t matter the differences
Forget certain instances
If it wasn’t for her truth
There would be no you
When her work is done
It will hit you a ton
Because you only get one
