Love Poem: Judgement Day

Judgement Day

What was sadder - my missing his passing,
Or my eschewing his saintly advice?
A precocious young man in his prime, with
A score of years on humanity's edge,
I was resolute to travel beyond.
My fate was sealed by Priority Mail -
No one could deter me, let alone the...
Old priest who had seen something good in me.
My life beckoned like chum in a dead sea;
I was torn tween' my mentor and hunger.
Lusting for an untold reality
I left never shedding a tear that night.
I was showered with material wealth;
Yet something was missing, I knew not what.
In a dream a vision beckoned to me;
It showed me the folly of my new ways.
Two days more in an ominous letter
I learned my best friend would pass very soon.
I knew what I must do and do it now;
I knew in my heart where I had to be.
As I thought hard over what I would say -
Time I got to town destiny had changed.
And my sage mentor I would never see.
Now they call me Father, we are as one.
