Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash had great
Compassion for the
Working class and the poor.
‘I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down,
And the flames went higher’
Johnny Cash, a fifties and sixties, a
Much applauded singer,
Fans chased him, girls chased
Him, but he befriended drugs,
‘And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire,
The ring of fire,’
His first marriage to Vivian Liberto
Was shorter than to his second
Wife, June Carter- Cash
Who he met and married
Together for thirty years, she died
In May 2003, and
And Johnny cried.
But Millions also cried,
When Johnny died
Four months later
in September 2003.
Johnny Cash and June
Had an attraction
To each other that one would
Call dangerous, the reaction
Was that husband and wife
Wrote the song
“Ring of Fire” ,
Indicative and a reflection of
Their relationship.
Love and fire I would say
For Johnny were related,
And it was absolutely fated
That this couple would meet,
Be together and bring into
The world one pair of tiny feet!
He fell hard and into this fire,
He loved this girl dearly,
‘The taste of love is sweet,
When hearts like ours meet,
I fell for you like a child,
Oh, but the fire went wild.’
‘Love is a burning thing,
And it made a fiery ring,
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire’.
He unfortunately was always
Drawn to drugs, and wrote
Many songs under their influence.
But despite this reckless route ,
And his feelings high,
There was no doubt
That the element of fire,
And the emotion of love
Combined, made this song
A top Hit!
Which made every bit,
Of Johnny Cash’s story fit!

Johnny Cash was in and out of rehab. However, eventually kicked his addictive drug habit.
