I'M Finally There
In passion's heat, two souls intertwine
invoking a miracle divine.
And before the first beat of my heart
when there was no me, life got its start.
Weightless, tethered to my world within
sensations of existence begin.
And as reassuring thoughts persist
there's pleasure in knowing I exist.
Protected within my inner space
my growth develops at a fast pace.
But I'm still we and want to be free
anxious to leave; I need to be me.
My eyes gaze in a bewildered stare
as my empty lungs expand with air.
And instinctively, I start to weep,
but a loving voice sings me to sleep.
The soothing sounds of a lullaby
calm me down till I no longer cry.
And reassured by my mother's care
I've made it; I am finally there!
