Love Poem: If You Need a Little Extra

If You Need a Little Extra

When you need a little extra,
Maybe friends seem scarce of late?
Please feel free to ask for favor,
I don’t ever lock my gate.

Troubles others might think silly,
I will listen, (don’t be shy),
Don't mistake me though with Saint, for
After all, I’m just a guy!

I won’t always save your bacon,
But be sure to “jump” your car,
Send some money if you’re stranded,
Drive you safe from late night bar.

Not adept at saving friendships,
That’s above my grade of pay,
But I’m glad to go to movie,
“Ring you up” to check your day.

I’ll show up when you are hurting,
Fix your tire if it goes flat,
Always send a birthday message,
Pick up mail or keep your cat.

But I do have one disclosure,
Since I’m standing by your door,
Later I might lose my courage…
Most guys call this love (and more)!

Poet's Notes:
I thought this was just going to be a boring little poem until I wrote the last
stanza. What a surprise! Always trust your muse! Ha! Twists are so much fun!
