If You Grind My Heart

A leaf, I float dream in your life, the stream
Till I reach sea your touch I’ll retain
You won’t go feral in flood, break my dream
For in your fluid arms I’ll sleep again.

A bird, I fly under your care, the sky
When clouds bring the storm, assured I remain
You won’t let it fold my wings, make me cry
For in your mind’s vastness I’ll fly again.

A pebble, I lap your embrace, the sea
Surging breakers strike, to stay still I strain
You won’t bring rainstorm, stow me in debris
For on shore of your heart I’ll roll again.

If you grind my heart you’ll see in surprise
Picking love for you from the dust I’ll rise.
