Love Poem: If Only You Knew

If Only You Knew

Pleasant and retreating are the bird tones
That gives melodies to the day
Each tone recites a thought of a lost voice
A voice that once descended like a jeweled waterfall
Upon the breathless silence of the soul
If only you knew

The star coins may fall just as the rains do
And even as lovers take their last breath to sleep
Mingled in each others warm silence
Your love reflection still flickers like the dew
Within the halls of my heart
So passionate like a Spanish dream
A lingering kiss goodnight
If only you knew

How empty my dreams have become
And how lightless my heart would beat
And even as my heart drift away into destruction
I bare that one special memory of you
I feel your touch, and the warmth of your smile like the moon
Your voice beckons me closer, though you're distant like the stars
If only you knew.

How much my soul would love you
By every eager breath, by every falling tear
Even as you cling to another distant and sure
My heart burns for you like a fulgent flame
If only you knew
A thousand poems for you I wrote
And a thousand letters of our dreams
And as the night turns dim and the day grows old
I dream of you just as lovers do
Though you're far away
If only you knew.
