Love Poem: If My Heart Had Eyes

If My Heart Had Eyes

If My Heart Had Eyes

If my heart had eyes,

I would have seen

What you felt inside.

I would have seen it on your face

Even if hiding it you tried.

I would have seen how much it hurt

Each time I was so mean

That it brought tears to that face

That meant so much to me

I would have seen the pleasure that you brought

Each time you entered the same room

The pleasure that I felt

With each tender kiss I sought,

I would have seen the kind of joy

That only can begin

When a man really loves his girl,

And she in love with him.

But alas, my heart does not have eyes

For it still cannot see

The beautiful love your smile brings

Every time you look at me.

But even without those eyes

I see you finally now

How much I love what I now see

Your faithful love endow

Your heart and mine are both unsighted

As it was meant to be

So that all we truly finally see

Is us, just you and me.
