I remember- the day you came home and I laid eyes on you
And I held you in my arms
Everyone says you’ll be just like me—smart and quiet
I felt jealous but for another reason
You’ll have everything I didn’t have
You’ll have everyone looking out for you
You’ll be able to grab everyone’s attention
Looking so innocent, so pure
And Mama will love you more
But then I realize that I would be your big sis- your role model
So I’m writing this, if I’m not around,

Be Strong
Have Strength
Work Hard
And Stay Focus
You’ll change while you see everything stays the same
And the world would spin and turn inside out and flip backwards
Before you would be able to define
Who you are and where you want to go
Be proud of what you do and who you are
“Don’t pay attention to the boys”, Mama will say
And that would be wise to do
So if I’m not around
Know I’m looking down
Giving you my utmost attention
Like I always did

So please promise me that you won’t
You won’t blend into the walls
You won’t be afraid to speak
You won’t be afraid to live
Grow—by facing your fears
Live—by your own terms
And that you wont- won’t be afraid to love
So please- one day tell mama you love her

Won’t find every answer
Before—making some and—learning from your mistakes
Do what you want to do
And make mama Scream
Don’t be afraid—be bold
Just don’t be like me
You’ll have big shoes to fill
So buy your own style and fill them
Turn to God sometimes; you’ll end up seeking your own answers
You could promise today but you wont understand why
It’ll mean so much to me
So litter Sis, if I’m not around
