Love Poem: If I Should Die

If I Should Die

If love should die before I wake
I pray, don't let me sleep
The promises made, I cannot break
I fully intend to keep

I promised my love 'til the day I die
And death has yet to call
I would never let love pass us by
I will not let love fall

For without love what use is life,
If promises can be broken?
How can a man then take a wife,
If no vows of love are spoken?

If it be a dream then shake me well
Until my eyes are wide
For I could not find no love in hell
And I could not find my bride

If love should die before I wake
I pray, don't let me sleep
The promises made, I cannot break
I fully intend to keep
