If I Said

If I said I wanted you
would you stay a little longer
If I said I needed you
would you hold me so tight
If I said I loved you
would we embrace the night tonight

I've known lonely, I've known sad
is it to much for a sweet smile
and a time to be glad
Why can't we share what we feel
why do we wonder if it is real
why are we afraid to reveal
ourselves to one another

It begins with a touch ever so slight
it ends with us entwined in the night
the loneliness and sadness disappear in an embrace
etched in our hearts one another's face
slow the flame dwindles and fades
we awake together in a new day

If I said I wanted you
would you stay a little longer
If I said I needed you
would you hold me so tight
If I said I loved you...

If I said I loved you
                   would we
                              should we
                                         could we
We will embrace the night, Tonight
