If I Don'T Learn How To Love

If I don't learn how to love, please know I tried
If i'm not able to prove it, please know you're the one I wanted by my side
When I push you away, it really means I want to give you a hug
I hope you know you were the girl I cared most about even if I don't learn how to love

I'm not Drake I can't sing to you about how love should be
I'm not the Weeknd, I'm not going to tell you about what we could be
I'm that damaged, I'll feel threatened if you try to hug me
Most of my poems are telling you why you shouldn't love me

Intimacy makes me feel uneasy I can't cope with it
I hide behind humour, so whatever you say, I'll make a joke about it
I want to love you, but I don't know how
I'm writing it on paper, because if I cried you a river you would probably drown

Most the people I trusted left, so now I don't allow anyone to get close
My hearts been shattered too many times, so I left it broke
You'd be better off running away from my broken heart
Because even if it got fixed, I'd still have too many scars

If I don't learn how to love, please know I tried
If i'm not able to prove it, please know you're the one I wanted by my side
When I push you away, it really means I want to give you a hug
I hope you know you were the girl I cared most about even if I don't learn how to love
