If I Could See You Now

If I could see you now
Your eyes lit up like daytime candles
Shining in my Knoxwood night.
If I could hear you now
Spilling laughter like silver bangles
Flooding my world with light.
If I could hold you now
And feel the pillow of your breast
Inviting my heart to stay
O, but I in sorrow now
Am so sorry and must confess
I am only mortal clay
And when this music plays again
Memories move me to pain
For you are gone and hope is vain
This song is just a chain.

I had no wish to wander,
Love, so long in the wind, drowning
In my tears, looking back
To days that never come again
And if you are still tender
With forgiving, when you are remembering
Blame fate that switched track
But could not break the chain.

Tom Jans wrote "Lying in your loving arms again." The only persons I have ever heard sing
this song is Elvis Presley and Kris Kristoferson ...
