Love Poem: I Wish

I Wish

I wish I was a mountain, majestic, far and high,

With a frigid, distant beauty that reaches to the sky,

To be that grand sierra that you could never change ...

Oh, I'd give it all to be a mountain range.

I wish I was a country where you have never been,

That you have always longed for, but your eyes have never seen,

I wish I was that country - as distant as a star ...

Oh, I'd trade it all to be a land too far.

I wish I was a flame that you could never harm,

Dancing in the darkness - clear and bright and warm,

If I could be that flame, I'd burn away your ire ...

Oh, I'd give up all I have to be a fire.

I wish I was a stone, you could kick me down the beach,

Throw me to the deep, so my heart was out of reach,

            I wish I was a stone - silent, cold and hard ...

Oh, I'd trade it all to be a rocky shard.

I wish I was a knife, with edge of sharpened steel,

I could cut your heart out, so you'd know how it feels,

I wish I was a knife, to sever all our ties ...

Oh, I'd give it all to be a blade as wise ...

For my will is LOST ... when I look in your eyes.
