I Wait

Neon lights flicker in the back alley two, gin induced, jovial souls stagger and sing along with the band playing inside the Blue Bird Café Outside leaning on the painted brick wall I wait my heart beats fast, my palms sweat too and I wait wait for her and her almond eyes her diamond smile I wait for her presence for her company, to fill my lonely nights to ease my lonely mind to erase memories of loves lost to dance in my arms to comfort me to be one with me I wait and I hope hope she is the one A misty rain begins to fall and then I see her sashaying my way bright yellow dress black stiletto pumps a gleam in her eye lighting up my night I take her arm my heart skips a beat we head inside and I smile hoping and praying I'll wait no more
