Love Poem: I Love You

I Love You

With a smile on my face
When cheeks turn red
The most beautiful eyes
I tone down my voice
I look him straight into his eyes
With no fear, no doubt or agony
I held his hands
He responds with a gentle squeeze
Pulling me closely as he waits
I rap my hands around his neck
I draw deep on His thoughts
Trying to figure out where he might be
Surprisingly I found nothing
Threw my eyes away for a sec
Then back at his
Taking my time
I told him, he didn't seem surprised
But he wanted to know if I meant it
Repeatedly asked if I was sure
With confidence I responded

The eyes were looking at him
With no shame I held his hands
My eyes were full of tears he couldn't see
My hands were shaking
But he couldn't sense
The make up smile
That he couldn't see past

Where was my humanity
My morals and principles
Where was my integrity
My standard and class
Where was my loyalty
My Care and respect
Where was my truth
My trust and faith
Where was this love
I had just told him about

I admitted to a truth a don't know
I pleaded to a crime I wasn't a part of
I witnessed a scene I've never seen
I wrote a book I've never read
I sang a song I never heard

I stood there and told you
I love you
When in between my words
Is betrayal and lies
Confusion and hurt
Guilt and regret.

I live a poetry I cannot write
