Love Poem: I Hunger For Ya

I Hunger For Ya

I count the hours on the clock
wait for the phone to ring
it doesn’t
then, it does
I hunger for ya.

Perfection is the name of the game
everything must be right
this time or
bust my brain
I hunger for ya

Your voice digs deep
into the pit
that is my soul
a tranquilizer that soothes
I hunger for ya

What will I do with this
discard or die
or go into the dark and conquer
the unknown?
I hunger for ya

When I see your name
I fear
deep down in my bowels
what now, what will love
ask of me
or not ask
I hunger for ya.

Daydream melodies, you
don’t understand them?
a thing hoped for you can’t
mass produce
at a thousand an hour
I hunger for ya.

In a real love
there’s no place for starvation or
bathroom dreams by candlelight
perfumed pearls
only
still
I hunger for ya.
