I Have Asked Him To Restore My Holiness

Troubled heart, seek joy because
my lost and hopeless soul
has forgotten to ask and pray;
who can hide from God's eyes
when they roam as eagles do?
Do silent skies suppress beauty
by letting hope flee on breeze?

Shimmering stars, don't leave
this bright August sky
until serenity is mine
and peace dwells inside!
I have sought Him
on nights of desperation...
shedding many tears of regret
over deeds of willful wrath!
Even then, He listened to each prayer
and heard my sincere supplication.

Why would fear conquer me,
if His presence is felt everywhere?
Why would solitude and emptiness
overcome me and allow misery
to distort the faith that flows
into these veins and not let me live?
I have asked Him
to restore my holiness
with the trembling voice
of a true repentant man!
