I Do Not Miss You When You'Re Gone

I do not miss you when you're gone
My sleep, ever so serene, from dusk til dawn
When the bough of bond between us breaks
There's no part of my beating heart that aches

Whenever a soul mentions your name
I can assure you, it doesn't spark a flame
When you trail off like contrails in the sky
You're so far gone; invisible in my mind's eye

I swear, your goodbyes are never sad
And I never pine for you, not even a tad
Lonely moments and cold nights never seem long
I'm free, soaring with wings so sturdy and strong

Each time you depart, and hours fly; all is fine
Never mind this coldly indifferent heart of mine
It's made of steel and stone, and feels nothing
for you; nothing at all. But who am I kidding?
