Love Poem: I Come To You

I Come To You

I come to you as a child,
the process one of aging
from an infant seeking
to an adult knowing,
to an adult yielding
to an adult exulted
who now realizes nothing
is greater than your endless patience
and all abiding love.

I lift to you on currents
wider than those seeming endless seas,
higher than those mountains
we admire and challenge--
basking in the power that holds
clouds in their majestic places,
and the oceans and mountains in their
mighty spaces—currents
carrying me higher than any natural wings
can catch and manage, nor manufactured foils
can grasp as rungs--
scooping and lifting their artificial limbs
toward that perfected eternity
all creation imagines and ascribes;
casting off all else and aside
I come to you open and naked--
unashamed and comforted
by your ever radiating
never abandoning warmth.

I come to you as you came to me:
offering your body and soul,
giving of yourself entirely--
an endless universe of seeking
and finding, of birthing
and nurturing;
raising kingdoms from
unfathomable nothingness
your only mandate
that I strive further toward freedom
and the propagation of fruitful life

I come to you
as husband and wife
as parent and child
as brother and sister
who cultivate and refine
all of your worlds
into the elegant
and sublime, the supreme
pureness of your almighty
spirit—I come to you
forever grateful and eternally
adoring….
