How Do I Love Again

How do I love after the hurt
When my heart was shattered into pieces in the dirt
How do I begin to move out of my past
And love someone else thinking this too shall last
How do I know it's not just my body that's desired
As sparks are united like two electrical wires
How do I know it's you I should trust
Could it be we're just making love out of lust

How do I love - again

How do I know it's you above others
And feel comfortable meeting another sister and mother
I've been around this road like a tire with rust
Leaving pieces of my past to linger in the dust
Love had me unsure and often afraid
As I reflect on the hurt and mistakes that were made
I wasn't all that I could be
And at some point I was even fed up with me

How do I love - again

My body was tired, shaken and a little bit torn
As I have taken off my vest and the battle shoes worn
There is so much more of me I have to give
As we go throughout each day of this life we live
Just be mellow and cool and take it in stride
Be patient and gentle walking together with pride
Never stray away from the love you share
And find new ways to show just how much you care

How do I love - again

It's obviously clear as you can see
The love I have inside of me
I'm ready to share with you what I have in store
For I can do it now, even better than before
We both have decided to just give it a chance
As we purchased our tickets first class to France
Joy, laughter and communication's a must
As we start our new journey, in God we trust

I know how to love - again!
