Love Poem: How Dare You

How Dare You

how dare you tempt me, beast (I said)
you shall not plunge my heart
you've never taken time to hear
     the breadth my dreams impart
you can not breach the wellspring
of my soul while deep, it's fed ...
how dare you tempt me beast (said I)
     how dare you!

how dare you touch me, beast (I said)
          or feign sweet August's moon
you drip that luscious luster, beamed
from heav'n to make me swoon
and daub my flesh with wistful warm
but this fool's not misled ...
how dare you touch me, beast (said I)
     how dare you!

how dare you kiss me, beast (I said)
          that melting mouth, sublime
while swimming in my absinthe eyes
     to taste sin's sloughing rhyme
such lips that tremble evil truths
now waxing plump and red ...
how dare you kiss me, beast (said I)
     how dare you!

how dare you love me, beast (I said)
and make me yearn with weight
those things I want to spurn you for
and change through pride to hate
but now, compelled to want for more
my strength is slowly bled ...
how dare you love me, beast (said I)
     how dare you!

how dare you trick me, beast (I said)
your face the same as hers
that skin of spice 'midst sweet device
her voice that sings and purrs
that callow, sexy coyness draws me
in to thus be fed ...
how dare you trick me, beast (said I)
     how dare you!

(and dare you NOT, I wholly fear ...
that I would soon be ... dead).
