Hot Cross Bun "a Poem For Easter"

When I see a cross
On a hot cross bun
It reminds me of god's love
And all that he has done.

He sent His Son Lord Jesus
To die upon a tree
And took upon Himself my sin
So I could be set free.

He hung upon that cross
In pain and agony
His body torn from lashes
And bones for all to see.

It's written in the Bible
That this was meant to be
For God in man died Himself
And took the place of me.

They took Him down from the cross
For me His life He gave
And wrapped Him in a linen cloth
To prepare Him for the grave.

At the place where Jesus died
was a garden not far away
And in it was a brand new tomb
That's where He was to stay.

A guard was placed outside His tomb
As though it was a prison
But on the first day of the week
Guess what, "He was risen".

The resurrection and the life
No grave could keep Him in
For on that day He rose again
And broke the power of sin.

So when I see a Cross
On a hot cross bun
It reminds me of god's love
And the victory He has won.
