Holding Onto Nothing

HOLDING ONTO NOTHING

I am feeling pretty strange, I am totally empty inside
I’m asking myself just how long it is since I last cried

I am; holding onto nothing, nothing holding onto me
Still, waters that surround me; just will not let me be

You have taken my happy, to fulfil your selfish needs
Based on your lies; and, your selfish monetary greed

I am looking at you; while you try to hide your deceit
Thus playing your innocence on those that you greet

I am not crying my loss, please understand me there
Just the fact it was done so unjustly, and darn unfair

Left me holding on to nothing, you really did not care
Saw me as someone to pay for; all the hurt you bare

I have no choice, but; to say how sorry, I feel for you
That you have had to come into life; with such a view

That anyone with a life; that it all only belongs to you
To lack so much in self-worth, to make all others blue

Just so you could have first place; in this life’s parade
A round of applause, today you have made the grade

But; whatever lesson I learnt; I never want to be you
You lack such integrity, you rile me; in all that you do

Counting your money; on my happiness, it be bound
No real love there, just your feelings, of feeling grand

Picking through your options; picking on me, to glean
It fills up your pockets; with no hope, of coming clean

Your jealousy has burned; the roads beneath my feet
All because your shallowness, just could not compete

I am holding onto nothing, but I will always have more
Because it’s my choice only, as to place you on ignore

My freedom will come; on the day, you close the door
Holding onto nothing; with so much more, to explore
