Love Poem: Hmm! I Know That Smell

Hmm! I Know That Smell

A scent, so rare
Of purity, fills the air passing
Through the slightly opened-window
Of my upper room
Hmm! I know that smell, it’s not from
The lone noble fir, outside, standing
Proud, with its fine fragrant foliage
Nor, from the sweet-scented creamy
Fruits, of grandpa’s strawberry trees
I went near the window
And, I peeked childishly
Lo! I saw a fiery
Lips as red as the roses
Flutter, like a majestic butterfly
In a morning breeze
There, in the garden, a woman
So lovely, with a brown smooth skin
And long black hair, listens
To the silent hymns, of Angels’ trumpet
As, the bluish sky, in sight, watching
The fairest of all creatures
While, the warbling birds nestling
On an oak tree, where once I tattooed
The symbol, of great love
Whispered to her, of my sudden peeking
She looked up, at me
Sheepishly, I waved my hand….
But, she threw me
Her sweet morning grin
Now, I know why
Envy lingers around the town
It’s ‘cos of my priceless treasure
From among the many, she chose
Me, to be the rightful owner, of her smile
