Love Poem: Him

Him

HIM

I REMEMBER
OH SO WELL
THE FIRST TIME I SAW YOU
IN THAT ONE SPLIT MOMENT
WHEN I FELL HELPLESSLY
FOR A MAN WITH NO NAME

I REMEMBER HOW MY
EYES WENT WIDE
UPON SEEING YOUR SWEET FACE
FIXATING ON ONLY YOU
BLOCKING OUT ALL THE
OTHER MEANINGLESS DETAILS

I REMEMBER THE RAPID
POUNDING IN MY WRISTS
IN MY EARS
LIKE A STORM RELEASING ITS ANGER
I WANTED YOU
NEEDED YOU

YET
YOU FAILED TO NOTICE
HOW MY EYES NEVER GLANCED
AWAY FROM YOUR EXISTENCE
HOW COULD YOU NOT NOTICE THE WAY I LOOKED AT YOU?

I WANT TO TELL YOU
I WANT YOU TO HEAR ME SAY IT
BUT IN YOUR PRESENCE
MY VOICE CRACKS AND I AM
UNABLE TO GET THE WORDS OUT

SO INSTEAD I AM LEFT
SCREAMING WITH MY EYES
AT A MAN WHO IS TOO BUSY
TO NOTICE

SEEMS YOU ARE MORE
PREOCCUPIED WITH LOOKING FOR
SOMETHING ELSE, SOMEONE
WHO WILL ACCEPT THE DARKER
PARTS OF YOU
THE REAL PARTS OF YOU

BUT
YOU FAIL TO SEE
I AM RIGHT HERE
IN FRONT OF YOU
LOVING YOU
FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE
AND EVERYTHING YOU ARE NOT
SO PLEASE SEE ME
