Love Poem: High

High

Is it ok if I put you up high
on a pedestal I built in a private sky?

It's not too tall, I promise this
I measured it to suit, a perfect fit.

I held you 'gainst others to get a size,
and I found some fitted with games and lies.

Others I found alloted some height,
to cover for secrets kept hidden 'til night.

A few made allowance and went a bit higher,
for they lacked art, and could not inspire.

All of this room you did not need,
to hide your faults and your ego feed.

After all of my measuring I looked around,
I saw your pedestal wasn't that far from the ground.

I could touch your skin, and look in your eyes,
and hold your love always perfectly high.
