Heather On the Hill

How elated I’d feel if you were to grant my wish
Once we had eaten that sumptuous seafood dish.
You leave the vale and take me slowly up the hill
A wonder of heather growing in glades all fill.

Today is just a fine great day, with barely a breeze
We’ll leave behind down in the vale all stately trees.
We’ll find a dry rock and rest a while up on the hill
Admire the vista of trees and yonder hear the melody of a rill.

But best of all I love the heather and love its lighter scent
Yet more I admire the various colours and I’m content.
So, darling make me happy as we go up the sloping incline
Let me admire nature’s best as we roam the heather fine.
