Hearts Are Breaking Everywhere Tonight

Hearts are breaking everywhere tonight.
Children cry by candlelight.
Yesterday you prayed the lord your sole to keep.
Today mothers everywhere weep.

Someone came to school with a gun.
Children screamed and began to run.
One by one children fall to their knees.
One even begged please.
A playground bleeds.
A teacher cries clutching a body of broken dreams.
Look out children when you play.
Today is the day your life will be taken away.
He’s determined to make everyone pay.

Hearts are breaking everywhere tonight.
Children cry by candlelight.
Yesterday you prayed the lord your sole to keep.
Today mothers everywhere weep.

Mothers hold your children close.
When you will see them again no one knows.
Before the gun is empty he will take his life.
Innocence children lost in the bright light.
They did not have a chance to fight.
So many small bodies pile.
The Childs parents are on trial.
Justice and dignity still lack.
Once a life is gone it can’t come back.

Hearts are breaking everywhere tonight.
Children cry by candlelight.
Yesterday you prayed the lord your sole to keep.
Today mothers everywhere weep.
Your children are safe and fine.
Gods playing for keeps this time.
