Love Poem: Heartbreak

Heartbreak

People say
that love hurts

But I am
in total
disagreement.

Love doesn't hurt
Love is amazing.

Kisses are
sweeter
Hugs are
like chocolate
The sun shines
so much brighter
Even the air
tastes fresh

Falling out of love
is what hurts.

Getting your
heart broken
time and time again
by the person
you thought was
"the one"

And you'll cry
continuously
with lots of sympathy
from everyone you know

but somebody else
will eventually take
the empty spot in your heart
and make it whole again

And this one
you say to yourself
he's the one

He'll be perfect
in every way
and you'll love him
and you forget everyone
before him

Until he dumps you
for another girl
who is "better than you"

You'll dissolve
in tears again
and this time
nobody cares

In the midst
of your depression
in your pit
at the side of the road

the one filled with
romance novels
empty tissue boxes
and broken dreams

a hand will reach into your abyss
shining light
into your sadness

he'll pull you up
onto the back
of his white steed
and together
you'll ride off
into the sunset

And this one,
you tell yourself,
will be different.
