Love Poem: He Set Me Free

He Set Me Free

God gave me more than I deserve
He gave me a good Mother
Someone I could always depend upon
While so many others
Go without a Mother’s love

God gave me eyes to see the best
Instead of just the sadness
He whispered hope into my heart
While some seem intent
On listening to the worst thoughts

God gave me laughter to spark
Compassion and blessedness
Feelings sought by most I see
While I feel them always
With my prayers and my praise

God gave me silent dreams
Joy beyond my belief
Faith that conquers most fears
While leaving me certain
That my love will always overcome

God gave me shadows of light
Inspiration to ignite
Breathless poetry and prose
While psalms seem to flow
From the warmth of my very soul

God gave me more than most
And I don’t understand why
Some struggle and fight
While I sail through on songs
Written by my Savior’s calling

God gave me – Me
In spite of my failure to see
Just why I have it so easy
While others face trials and grief
That I somehow mostly avoid with peace

God gave me – Me
Rich in hope and faith
Filled with kindness and grace
Alive with a fire that rages
Coloring my spirit in hues of sweet love

God gave me – Me
And I value this gift He blessed me with
Because without Me where would I be
While others discover their own way
I find God is leading me when I pray
